Program Overview

With Swami’s blessings, we are very excited to announce the “Sathya Sai Young Adult Leadership Retreat” for Regional YA officers in the USA! This is the third time this retreat is happening - 2006, 2012, now in 2018. The program elements of this day and half retreat has been designed keeping the three fold goal of Connect, Inspire and Unite. Watch this space for more details.

Saturday Morning 
7 AM - 12 PM: Registration and Welcome, Speaker - 1, Regional YA team presentations

Guest Speakers

Dr. William Harvey

William M. Harvey, Ph.D. is a retired Clinical/Social Psychologist who now resides in Blue Springs Missouri. Most of his professional career was spent in St.Louis Missouri, where he directed a large substance abuse prevention and treatment center (NASCO) and held the faculty position of Adjunct Professor of Sociology at Washington University. He was a consultant to the U.S. Government’s Department of Health and Human Services on matters of mental health and substance abuse. During this period he also served as Associate Publisher and Executive Editor of the Mississippi Enterprise Newspaper (Jackson), and as a Senior Research Scientist at the Missouri Institute of Mental Health in St. Louis. In the year 2000, Dr. Harvey shifted his residency to Sharon, Connecticut and became a Director of the Tanzania Royalty Exploration Company. He is listed in the Who’s Who in America.

His participation in the International Sathya Sai Organization dates back to 1977. He has served in many capacities, including President of USA’s Region 4, President of the U.S. Central Council, Chairperson for the National Young Adult Executive Committee, and Central Coordinator for Zone 1. He is currently a Member of the Prasanthi Council.

 

Dr. Lakshmi Jagannathan

Lakshmi started SSE/Balvikas at the age of 11 in Dallas, Texas. The Sai family has been an incredibly inspiring source of love, dedication, and service for her. Her internal connection with swami was triggered in 2003 when she was on pilgrimage to Whitefield with the Texas, USA group. She has been on a conscious spiritual journey ever since. As a part of this journey, she has had the opportunity to serve Swami in leadership roles in the young adult wing of SSIO: Center YA Rep (Dallas), Region 7 YA Rep, National YA Female Rep, and the Zone 1 Young Adult rep.

Lakshmi has a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from University of California at Berkeley. She has previously worked for Intel and Boeing. She currently works for GE Healthcare and works on technologies that improve the patient experience with MRI. She lives in Canton, Ohio with her husband, Srinath, and her 4 year old son, Raghav. She is eternally thankful to Swami for everything, and believes that every moment in life in Swami's miracle!

Arrival time: Please plan on arriving Friday night for an early start on Saturday
Departure time: Please plan on departing after 2pm on Sunday.

The region 4 team, comprising of regional center officers, local YAs and devotees have lovingly offered to host each one of us at their homes, help with transport to and from the airport and with food. Please indicate your confirmed travel schedule and other preferences in the below travel form. The travel team will reach out to you for further information/clarifications.
